Wraparound Supports

Supporting Job Seekers Beyond Employment Services

Supporting job seekers often involves more than employment services alone.

Many job seekers may benefit from additional supports that help address barriers impacting employment and support progress toward their goals. Access to the right services at the right time can play an important role in helping job seekers move forward.

Alberta Employment Connect helps support coordination between Employment Services Providers, community organizations, and wraparound supports so job seekers can access the services and resources that best align with their needs and circumstance

What Are Wraparound Supports?

Wraparound supports are services that help address barriers that may impact a job seeker’s employment journey.

Depending on a job seeker’s situation, supports may include:

Housing supports
Mental health supports
Financial supports
Community services
Transportation supports
Childcare supports
Peer supports

Every job seeker’s circumstances are unique, and the supports required may vary depending on their goals, needs, and situation.

Supporting Coordinated Pathways

As the first point of contact for job seekers referred through the Government of Alberta, Alberta Employment Connect helps build a clearer understanding of each job seeker’s goals, needs, barriers, and circumstances.

Through these conversations, we help identify employment service pathways and additional supports that may help job seekers move forward.

Where appropriate, we help support connections to Employment Services Providers, community organizations, and wraparound supports.

Strengthening Connections Across the Network

Supporting job seekers often requires collaboration across multiple organizations and services.

Alberta Employment Connect is designed to help strengthen coordination, communication, and connections across the network so job seekers can more easily access the services and supports available to them.

By supporting stronger connections between Employment Services Providers, community organizations, and wraparound supports, Alberta Employment Connect helps create clearer and more coordinated pathways into services and supports across Edmonton and surrounding communities, as well as northern smaller urban and rural communities.

Questions?

If you have questions about wraparound supports or community resources, our team can help connect you to the right information and services.

Alberta Employment Connect acknowledges that our work takes place on the traditional and ancestral territories of many First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Peoples across Alberta, including Treaty 6 and Treaty 8 Territories.

We recognize and honour the Indigenous Peoples who have stewarded these lands since time immemorial and whose cultures, histories, and contributions continue to shape the communities we serve today.

As we support job seekers across Edmonton and surrounding communities, as well as northern smaller urban and rural communities, we are committed to listening, learning, building respectful relationships, and supporting reconciliation through our work, partnerships, and actions.
